When we were introduced to a galaxy of mystical powers and lightsabers in the original Star Wars: A New Hope, the Jedi Order was all but extinct. However, once the previous films were released (and became Midichlorian canon), we finally got a taste of what the Jedi were like in full force. Aayla Secura, a Rutian Twi'lek, was a Jedi Master and Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Prior to the Clone Wars, Secura served as a Padawan under Jedi Master Quinlan Vos and learned the ways of the Force. During the Battle of Geonosis, Aayla Secura was one of the Jedi who rescued Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padme Amidala. She then became a general in the Clone Wars before being killed by her own forces while executing Order 66 on Felucia.
During the waning years of the Galactic Republic, Adi Gallia was a Tholothian Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council. She was a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars and participated in several skirmishes during the struggle between the Republic and the Separatists until Darth Maul's brother, Savage Opress, assassinated her. As a result, her cousin Stass Allie replaced her on the board.
A member of the Jedi Council before the Clone Wars, Agen Kolar participated in the First Battle of Geonosis that sparked the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance. Kolar was a member of the Jedi Assault Squad formed by Mace Windu, a member of the Jedi High Council, to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Padmé Amidala from execution by the Separatists. He was one of the Jedi killed by Darth Sidious when Mace Windu tried to capture the Sith Lord.
Ahsoka Tano was a former Togruta Jedi Padawan who helped organize a network of rebel cells against the Galactic Empire after the Clone Wars. Jedi Master Plo Koon discovered Tano on her homeworld of Shili and took her to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant for Jedi training. After the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Jedi Grand Master Yoda made Tano the Padawan of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, who nicknamed her "Snips" when she joined him in the Battle of Christophsis. During the Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano left the Order after falsely blaming the Jedi Temple.
Anakin Skywalker, so close to being a Jedi master's name, if only he could control his emotions. The Midichlorian-produced Chosen One who became an excellent Jedi only to be tempted by the Dark Side to aid in the downfall of the Order and become the despised Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Asajj Ventress is a Dathomirian who has worked her entire life as a slave, Jedi Padawan, Sith Assassin, Night Nurse and bounty hunter. Forced to hand her over to the criminal Hal'Sted at a young age, Ventress's coven took her away from her sisters to the war-torn world of Rattatak, where she grew up as a slave in his service. She was orphaned when the Weequay pirates killed her owner, but was later recovered by Jedi Knight Ky Narec, who was trapped on Rattatak fighting marauding pirates. However, Ventress turned to the Dark Side and Count Dooku after his death. She redeemed herself and her lover Quinlan Vos in an act of sacrifice that cost her her life.
Barriss Offee was a Jedi Knight from Mirial. She was a Padawan under the command of Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and wielded a blue lightsaber. Offee participated in the first battle of the Clone Wars, the Battle of Geonosis, and stayed with Unduli throughout the conflict. He would fail his fellow Jedi if he realized the Order was on the wrong side of the fight. He eventually orchestrated the explosion of the Temple, resulting in the deaths of several Jedi.
Until Kylo Ren fell to the dark side, Luke Skywalker taught his nephew Ben Solo and a "new generation" of Force-sensitives the lessons of the Jedi. Amidst this list of famous Star Wars Jedi character names, Ben Solo had to get on board and took on the name Kylo Ren and betrayed his uncle and other Padawans under the influence of Supreme Leader Snoke.
During the Clone Wars, Bolla Ropal was a Rodian who served as a Jedi Master and Jedi General in the Jedi Order. During the conflict, Ropal was the curator of the Kyber memory crystal, which contained information about the identities of young Force-sensitives across the galaxy.
Coleman Kcaj was an Ongree Jedi Master who served the Jedi Order in the later years of the Galactic Republic. Elected to the Jedi High Council during the Clone Wars, Kcaj survived the Great Jedi Purge for years.
Coleman Trebor was a Vurk Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council before the Clone Wars and was a member of the Jedi High Council. Trebor attempted to fight Count Dooku during the first battle of Geonosis, but was shot and killed by bounty hunter Jango Fett.
Count Dooku was a Jedi Master who turned to the evil side of the Force during the later years of the Galactic Republic and became Darth Tyranus, Dark Lord of the Sith. During the Clone Wars, he served as head of state of the Confederacy of Independent Systems after leaving the Jedi Order. He was Darth Sidious's second apprentice, and his plan to rule the galaxy hinged on Dooku launching a pan-galactic Separatist campaign against the Republic. As a result, Dooku threw himself on the dark side and worked diligently to advance his goals and those of his master, but he ended up losing that betrayal was the Sith way of life, also forgetting that he was just his master's pawn. .
Depa Billaba was a Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council during the final years of the Jedi Order. Born on the planet Chalacta, she joined the Jedi Order as a child, where she was trained by Jedi Master Mace Windu. Billaba was later named to the council with his former master and was there when Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn introduced his chosen one, Anakin Skywalker, to the governing body. After the Jedi Master was killed during the Battle of Naboo, she attended Jinn's funeral.
During the Clone Wars, Eekar Oki served as a Jedi for the Galactic Republic. Oki attended a conference of members of the Jedi Order after being contacted by Confederate General Grievous during his arrest by Jedi Master Eeth Koth and in the Galactic Senate building later that year.
Eeth Koth served on the Jedi High Council for the Galactic Republic in his later years. During the Clone Wars, he served as a Jedi General. Koth was kidnapped by General Grievous and used as bait to lure other Jedi into a trap after surviving the initial battle on Geonosis that started the conflict.
Before the Clone Wars, even Piell was born to Lannik. During a battle with militants on his home planet, Piell lost his left eye. Piell rose through the ranks of the Jedi Order to become a Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council. However, he was captured during the Clone Wars and became a prisoner of war and was eventually killed.
During the Clone Wars, Halsey, a Jedi Master from Roonan, fought Clone Commander "Trauma" and his Padawan Knox during the Republic's defense of the Temple of Eedit on the planet Devaron. Savage Opress, Darth Maul's brother, eventually killed him during the fight.
During the Clone Wars, Ima-Gun Di was a Jedi Master who served as a General of the Jedi Order. While helping to save the people of Ryloth, he was killed by Separatist droid soldiers.
Jocasta Nu was a Jedi Master who served as Chief Librarian of the Jedi Archives in the Galactic Republic in her later years. Nu's main responsibilities in this role were looking after the vast archives, helping his fellow Jedi find the information they needed, as well as managing access to various protected vaults and relics.
During the later years of the Galactic Republic, Ki-Adi-Mundi was a Jedi Master from Cerea and a member of the Jedi High Council. Mundi rose through the ranks of the Grand Army of the Republic to become a Jedi General during the Clone Wars.
Kit Fisto, an amphibious creature, was a member of the Jedi Council capable of fighting in the Clone Wars on dry and wet planets. Fisto became increasingly active on the High Council after the Mon Cala campaign. Anakin Skywalker confessed to Mace Windu that Chancellor Palpatine was a Sith Lord as the end of the war approached. To arrest Palpatine, Windu brought Fisto and fellow masters Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin to Palpatine's office. Kolar and Tiin were quickly disposed of by the Dark Lord, while Fisto only survived a few seconds before succumbing to Sidious' ultimate power, and Windu joined them soon after.
He is probably the most famous of all Jedi characters in Star Wars. Lucas Skywalker. A farm boy from Tatooine who inherited his father's Force sensitivities, he knew nothing of his true origins until he met Obi-Wan Kenobi. Exposed to the Force by aging Jedi, Luke Skywalker later became a shining knight, a hero of the Rebel Alliance, and the only person who could return Anakin Skywalker to the light side of the Force.
Luminara Unduli was a Mirialan Jedi Master. Lena was the commander of the 41st Elite Corps and Barriss Offee's teacher. Unduli was horrified when Offee betrayed the Jedi Order by bombing the Jedi Temple. Unduli fought in the Battle of Kashyyyk. After Palpatine abolished the Jedi Order, she was captured and killed. To lure out and destroy any Jedi who escaped Order 66, the Empire used her corpses. Kanan Jarrus and the Ghost crew were led to believe that Unduli was alive and imprisoned on Stygeon Prime. They organized a rescue, only to discover it was a trap set by the Grand Inquisitor. The rebels escaped with the news that Unduli was dead and prevented further killings in her name. Unduli's voice was heard by Rey Skywalker many years later when she met Darth Sidious on Exegol and encouraged her to find the light.
During the Clone Wars, the wielder of the purple lightsaber, Mace Windu, was the highest-ranking member of the Jedi Council alongside Yoda. In the dark days of the Republic, he was the greatest defender of the Jedi Order and its ancient traditions. When the Separatist crisis led to the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Clone Wars, Windu and the Jedi led the Grand Army of the Republic to defend the Republic. Windu served the Jedi and the Republic in various capacities during the war: on the battlefield as commander of the clone army, on Coruscant overseeing the war effort and advising Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, and even as a diplomat visiting disputed worlds.
Windu was suspicious of Palpatine's goals when the battle ended, noting Palpatine's near-dictatorial rule over the Galactic Senate and the rise of the galaxy's dark side. Windu defeated Palpatine and intended to kill the Chancellor due to his power over the government, but Anakin Skywalker's interference resulted in Windu's death.
Nahdar Vebb was a Jedi Knight of the Mon Calamari. He was trained as a Jedi by the Nautolan Jedi Master Kit Fisto, but when Fisto was summoned, Vebb was forced to complete his training on his own. He passed the Jedi exams and became a skilled Force healer. Unfortunately, he was killed by General Grievous shortly after being knighted.

This Jedi Master transitioned from one of the greatest Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to Ben Kenobi in a surprisingly successful attempt to circumvent the Empire's authority. During his exile, the famed Jedi Master played a pivotal role in the fate of the galaxy during the waning days of the Galactic Republic. He was a teacher of two of the most famous Star Wars Jedi characters, Anakin and Luke Skywalker, teaching them the ways of the Force. He had a long and tumultuous career that influenced the fate of the galaxy.
During the High Republic era, the invasion of Naboo, and the Clone Wars, Oppo Rancisis was a Force-sensitive Thisspian Jedi Master who sat on the Jedi Council. He was considered one of the smartest board members. He was a survivor of the Great Jedi Purge and was revered for his silent knowledge and devotion to the Force.
Ord Enisence was a Jedi Master that Cad Bane killed with Bolla Ropal before the event. During his raid on the Jedi Temple, Bane's fellow bounty hunter, the shapeshifter Cato Parasitti, posed as Enisence.
Plo Koon was a Jedi Master from Kel Dor and a member of the Jedi High Council during the later years of the Galactic Republic. During the war, he led his 104th Battalion through several difficult operations, and due to his Kel Dor physiology, this advisor was required to wear a mask in oxygen environments.
Who is Gon Jinn?
A Jedi name that has gone down in history, Qui-Gon Jinn was a Force-sensitive Jedi Master who lived in the final decades of the Galactic Republic and is best known for discovering Anakin Skywalker and introducing him to the Jedi Order. A follower of the Living Force, Jinn was always in the moment, often fighting and openly defying the Jedi High Council.
Quinlan Vos was a Kiffar Jedi Master who lived during the fall of the Galactic Republic. Born in Kiffu, he was a Jedi who liked to break the rules. He was known for his retrocognition (capturing memories of people touching objects), which made Vos a skilled tracker. He was often sent into the criminal underworld. On one of these missions he met Aayla Secura and made her his Padawan.
Rey was a Jedi Master who fought alongside the Resistance against the First Order in the Star Wars universe. Her life was affected by the tumultuous events of the New Republic Era, as she was a former scavenger from the planet Jakku. Through a series of adventures that spanned the galaxy, he eventually took on the name of the most famous Jedi in Star Wars history and became Rey Skywalker.
Rig Nema was a Jedi consular physician from Halaisi, and during a fierce battle, Grand Master Yoda became one of Doctor Nema's patients when he heard the disembodied voice of the late Master Qui-Gon Jinn, much to the consternation of the Jedi Council.
Saesee Tiin, an Iktotchi from the moon Iktotch, was a Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council of the Galactic Republic in its later years. Tiin served as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars and was a skilled lightsaber fighter and starfighter pilot.
Shaak Ti served as an adviser and commander during the wars and, for a time, directed the training of clone troopers on Kamino. She was a great warrior and a staunch follower of Jedi teachings. Ti served as a general in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, a galaxy-spanning struggle between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Ti was killed in the Siege of the Jedi Temple by fallen Jedi Anakin Skywalker during the Great Jedi Purge.
Sifo-Dyas, a Jedi from the Cassandran Worlds, served on the Jedi High Council before the invasion of Naboo. He foresaw a galaxy-wide battle and felt that the Galactic Republic would need an army to win. But the Jedi Council rejected his ideas and he was expelled. However, he continued his plans in secret, contacting the Kaminoan cloners and seeking approval from the Galactic Council and Senate to develop an army for the Republic. In doing so, he accidentally got in the way of the Sith who wanted to take over his cloning efforts.
Stass Allie, a Tholothian Jedi Master, lived in the waning years of the Galactic Republic. She was Adi Gallia's cousin. When Gallia was killed, Allie became a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic and a member of the Jedi High Council. Allie would not survive long on Saleucami during the Clone Wars. Clone Commander CC-8826 opened fire on Allie, killing her instantly.
Tera Sinube was a Cosian Jedi Master who lived during the glory days of the Galactic Republic. As the Marshal of the High Republic of a Jedi station on Derra, Sinube served on the Jedi High Council prior to the invasion of Naboo. During the Clone Wars, Sinube helped Ahsoka Tano retrieve her stolen lightsaber from a thief named Bannamu. He taught Jedi arts to young people in the Temple of Coruscant.
Tiplar was a yellow-skinned Mikkian Jedi Master and general in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Tiplar, along with her twin sister Tiplee, led a battalion of clone troopers under the command of Clone Commander Doom. The three worked with Jedi General Anakin Skywalker's 501st Legion to expel the Confederacy of Independent Systems from Ringo Vinda's orbit. Due to a bug in his inhibitor chip, the clone trooper performed 501 Tup Tiplar by shooting him in the head during the campaign. Tup's alleged betrayal triggered a high-profile investigation that led ARC Trooper Fives to discover the presence and operation of the clones' inhibitor chips.
Tiplee was a red-skinned Mikkian Jedi Master who served in the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic alongside her twin sister, Tiplar. She and her sister were Jedi Generals in the Grand Army of the Republic and fought at Ringo Vinda. During the campaign, Tiplar was killed by clone trooper CT-5385, nicknamed "Tup", due to a flaw in the clone's behavior modification biochip that led the clones to kill the Jedi as traitors. Tiplee was there and saw her sister die.
Tu-Anh was a Jedi Master who died at the end of the Clone Wars while investigating a Separatist conspiracy on Utapaul. Locals found his body and showed it to Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Yaddle was a Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council during the later years of the Galactic Republic. She was a Force-sensitive female of the same species as Grandmaster Yoda and Grogu, and was serving on the High Council at the time of the invasion of Naboo.
