Fitbit Versa 3 is probably the best smartwatch for Android users. iPhone users might want to spend the extra cash on an Apple Watch SE, but Android users won't find a competing product that offers everything the Versa 3 does at this low price. However, the watch is not perfect. You need to decide if your relatively few commitments are worth the money you save. Overall, however, the average person will likely get everything they need and want.
End of August 2020,fitbitreleased a trio of new wearables. Two were remarkably similar: the flagshipFitbit-Senseand the significantly cheaper Fitbit Versa 3. Both smartwatches look virtually identical, share many of the same features, and even run the same software.
From a features standpoint, the Sense is the best device out there, and it should be the best for any Fitbit fan. However, if you look at the Sense and Versa 3's value proposition, there's a clear winner. In this Fitbit Versa 3 review, we explain which one wins and why.

Fitbit Versa 3 review notes:I used the Fitbit Versa 3 for five days with software version 36.128.4.17 (also known as Fitbit OS 5.1.1). I had the device paired with my OnePlus 7 Pro for the entire trial period. Since we've already reviewed the Fitbit Sense (which is essentially the same product but with more sensors and health features), we'll keep this review short. For many of the fitness features, I'll take you through our full Sense review.

At its core, the Fitbit Versa 3 is a great all-around smartwatch. If you're looking for a way to keep tabs on your overall health, view your notifications, listen to music, and perform rudimentary tasks without ever touching your phone, the Versa 3 can do all that and more.
However, the Versa 3 isn't Fitbit's "best". Objectively, the Fitbit Sense is the best. With that mindset, you can view the Fitbit Versa 3 in two ways. The first is pretty obvious: it's a kneeling version of the Fitbit Sense. It looks similar to Sense, but lacks some of Sense's most important features, including the long-awaited ECG (Electrocardiogram) Monitoring.
It's best to look at the Sense as a sort of "Fitbit Versa 3 Ultra". The Versa 3 has just about every feature a smartwatch buyer could want: accurate health tracking, sleep monitoring (incl.SpO2tracking), integratedGeographic Positioning Systemcom GLONASS,Google AssistantÖAmazon AlexaSupport, multi-day battery life, and more. For the average person, the Versa 3 has everything you need.
At its core, the Fitbit Sense is for people who want their smartwatch to be trendy and are willing to pay a lot more for the privilege. The Versa 3 is for everyone else.
Fitbit Versa 3 review: What's new since the Versa 2?

As you can see above, the Versa 3 offers many features that the Versa 2 lacks. For most people, the built-in GPS alone is enough to warrant an upgrade. But the addition of Google Assistant and support for Bluetooth phone calls make it a lot easier.
Readers should also note that the Versa 2I will not do itGet the latest software updates for the Fitbit operating system. This is exclusively reserved for Fitbit Versa 3 and Fitbit Sense. That doesn't mean the Versa 2 won't see software updates in the future, but it won't get the Versa 3's latest UI tweaks and features.
Unfortunately, if you decide to swap your Versa 2 for the Versa 3, you won't be able to take your watch straps with you. Versa 2 bands are not compatible with Versa 3.
What are the new features?

After reading this review, you should be aware that some things have changed since the original post.
SpO2 monitoring
Gone is the limitation that the SpO2 sensor only works with certain watch faces. With the latest software update, the Versa 3 tracks your SpO2 readings while you sleep, regardless of which watch face you have turned on. You can view your SpO2 readings at any time on your watch using the Today app (swipe up from the home screen). You can also view your readings in the Fitbit app on your phone.

For SpO2 data you need to loginFitbit-Premiumto view long-term statistics and read your health recommendations. However, Versa 3 (and Sense) owners can now watch for a week without a premium subscription. However, 30-day and long-term views are blocked until you pay.
Google Assistant
Google Assistant support wasn't yet live during our original review period with the Fitbit Sense. With the latest software update on the Versa 3 (at least in the US), you can now choose between Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa voice commands/responses.
Google Assistant was fast and accurate on the watch. I did it with simple commands like "What's the weather like?" and "Turn off the bedroom light." It can even handle stacked queries like "Turn off the desk lights and turn on the room lights" with ease. You can also send text messages using just your voice and reply to text messages and emails with your voice on Android.
As of software update 5.2, the Versa 3 (and Sense) can now provide audible responses to Assistant prompts. If you ask the assistant what the weather is like, you'll hear an audible response from the watch's speaker.
Bluetooth-Anrufe
This feature basically turns your Versa 3 into a Bluetooth-connected speakerphone for phone calls. You can talk to the watch during the call and hear the caller's responses through the watch speaker. Since you can also answer/end calls on the watch and initiate calls through Google Assistant, you can use the watch for all your voice calls without touching your phone. Of course, you'll still need your cell phone nearby for the Bluetooth connection, as there's no LTE version of the Versa 3.
Are there any downsides?

When it comes to hardware, the Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 are essentially the same. As such, all of the criticisms leveled at the Sense in our original review also apply to the Versa 3. One of those criticisms is its reliance on a proprietary charging cable with no support for wireless charging. In other words, you need to add another unique cable to your life (and eventually to the landfill).
The biggest criticism of both watches is the capacitive button on the left side of the watch. Thankfully, the latest version of Fitbit OS means you don't have to rely on the capacitive button as much. Instead of using it as a "back" button, you just have to use it for app shortcuts, returning to the main watch face from anywhere, or turning the screen on when you need to wake up. It would be nice if future Fitbit smartwatches offered hardware buttons, but until then, stick with capacitive buttons.

In case you didn't know, the latest version of Fitbit OS fixes many of the teething issues we had with the Sense. However, the Versa 3 lacks a core feature of the previous Versa, namely local music upload. You can download Deezer and Pandora playlists directly to the watch for offline playback (you'll have about 2.5GB of storage to work with). Unfortunately, you can't upload your own MP3 files to the Versa 3. You can't download Spotify playlists either, although you can control your phone's Spotify app from the watch.

Another critical point is battery life. Fitbit advertises six or more days of battery life on the Versa 3, compared to five or more days on the Versa 2. The problem is that the watch's new features (and limitations) make it highly unlikely that you'll see six days of battery life. life. For this Fitbit Versa 3 review period, I got about 3.5 days of power. I took the watch off the charger at 8 am. on Monday and was at 7% by 4pm. M. from Thursday. That means tracking a morning workout each day, an always-on display, active sleep tracking, and about an hour of GPS use. It took me an hour to fully charge the watch again.

Now you might be thinking that by disabling the always-on display feature you can increase your battery life. While that's true, it's not advisable, as Fitbit has a knack for making tilting to wake a poor experience. I'd say about 30% of the time I lifted my wrist to check the time, the screen wouldn't turn on. I see the same problem with meFitbit Charge 4🇧🇷 Having AOD enabled solves that problem, and for me it's well worth saving a few hours of battery life. Of course, it would be great if Fitbit corrected this oversight in its lineup.
Finally, we can't ignore the elephant in the room.Fitbit app library🇧🇷 Simply put, the list of apps available on the Fitbit Versa 3 is short enough that you can flip through them in about 30 seconds. There are some basic ones like a calculator, a map app, and even a few games. However, the app selection is miserable compared to other platforms. As you enter the Fitbit ecosystem, expect to miss out on some of the key app experiences from other platforms.
As for upgrades, it looks like you'll have few. Fitbit released Fitbit OS 5.3 for Versa 3 in October 2021 with smarter status indicators, an Outdoor Training Mode and additional bug fixes. We haven't seen another major feature update since then.
Fitbit Versa 3 vs Fitbit Sense: Which is the better buy?

Small details aside, the Fitbit Sense only offers three things that the Versa 3 lacks:
- Electrodermal activity monitoring (EDA)(Basically your stress level)
- Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring.(How healthy is your heart)
- skin temperature(Anomalies here can be related to various diseases)
Aside from those three tests, there's nothing the Sense can do that the Fitbit Versa can't. With that in mind, the price difference between the two watches is $70. Essentially, your choice between these two devices comes down to a single question: are the three metrics above worth $70?

I think the average person would answer "no" to that question. If you fall into that camp, then you know the Versa 3 is your best buy.
Don't rule out Fitbit Sense completely, though. Fitbit has its devices on sale quite often, so there's a good chance you can snag a Sense for a lot less than yours.$ 299RRP. If the Sense is on sale, chances are the Versa 3 will be too. But if you're on a strict $250 budget and want as many smartwatches as possible, you'll likely find some sense in this price range. However, if you want to spend as little money as possible, the Versa 3 is for you.

When you stop comparing the Fitbit Versa 3 to the Fitbit Sense and compare it to the competition, its value becomes clear. The Versa 3 started with a price of$ 229, but now you can find it for a lot less.
Fitbit has since announced thatsin 2($ 299) eTowards 4($ 229), but despite being new, they lack a significant number of features present on the Versa 3. This does not include Google Assistant or third-party apps. We still recommend purchasing the Versa 3 to get the best Fitbit smartwatch experience without breaking the bank. For Android users, there isn't much on the market in the Versa 3's price range that can top its collection of features. If you choose the Fitbit Versa 3, keep in mind that you need a Fitbit Premium account to unlock certain features. Honestly, the premium feature set isn't essential, so most people would be okay with giving it up. If you want to, though, you'll need to factor the $9.99 per month (or $80 annually) cost into your decision.
In short, the Fitbit Versa 3 is probably the best smartwatch Android users can get for the price, even with the Versa 4 now in the game. you could finda better smartwatch from Garmin, but would spend a lot more money. you could get it tooa fitness trackerfor much less money, but you lose a lot of smartwatch features. With integrated GPS and some design tweaks, the Fitbit Versa 3 is an excellent wearable. Like its predecessor, though, it's more a fitness tracker than a smartwatch, with very limited productivity apps on offer.
When you wear it to bed, the Versa 3 will track your time asleep, sleep stages (awake, light, deep, and REM), sleeping heart rate, restlessness, and estimated oxygen variation (whether the changes in your blood oxygen saturation were high or low, information that can help you uncover breathing issues).
